This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is handled when you use the macOS application 59sek ("59sek"), provided by:

1. Privacy by Design

59sek is designed to work completely offline.

Videos, audio tracks, video metadata, filenames, thumbnails, segment information, and exported clips are processed locally on your Mac. They are not uploaded to us or transmitted to our servers.

We do not operate a backend server for 59sek and do not receive or have access to the videos you process in the application.

2. Local Video Processing

When you select, drag, or otherwise provide a video to 59sek, the application processes it directly on your device. This processing may include:

• accessing the video selected by you;
• reading its duration, dimensions, orientation, file size, container, and other technical metadata;
• generating a local thumbnail for display in the application;
• calculating the number and timing of clips based on the clip length selected by you;
• splitting the video into sequential clips using Apple's local AVFoundation technologies;
• preserving compatible video and audio streams without re-encoding where supported;
• creating sequential filenames for exported clips;
• checking the selected destination for filename conflicts; and
• revealing exported clips in Finder at your request.

Supported inputs currently include MP4, MOV, and M4V files where macOS can read the container and the codecs contained in the file. Selected source videos are accessed only for local processing. 59sek does not automatically create a persistent cloud or server-side copy of them.

3. Source Videos, Thumbnails, Partial Files, and Exports

Source videos remain at the location selected by you. 59sek does not modify or delete the source video as part of the normal splitting workflow.

Thumbnails and technical metadata used for the application's preview are generated and held locally. They are not transmitted to us.

Exported clips are written to the destination folder selected by you or to the fixed export folder you configured. They remain there until you move or delete them. Existing files are not intentionally overwritten; 59sek chooses a new available filename when a conflict is detected.

If an export is cancelled, clips that already finished remain in the destination folder. 59sek attempts to remove the incomplete file currently being written. Device shutdowns, storage failures, operating-system errors, or other interruptions may nevertheless leave filesystem artefacts outside the application's control.

Because all of this content remains under your control on your device, we cannot access, recover, correct, or delete it for you.

4. Local Settings and Export-Folder Access

59sek stores limited preferences locally on your Mac, including:

• your default clip length;
• whether the application should ask for an export folder each time;
• the display name of a fixed export folder; and
• the local reference required to access a fixed export folder again.

If you choose a fixed export folder, 59sek stores a security-scoped bookmark provided by macOS. This bookmark allows the sandboxed application to regain access to that user-selected folder in future sessions. The bookmark remains on your device and is not transmitted to us.

You can change the export-folder mode, select another folder, or remove the saved folder through the application settings.

5. Launch at Login

If you enable "Launch 59sek at Login," that preference is registered locally using Apple's macOS Service Management system. 59sek does not transmit this setting to us.

You can disable the option at any time in the application settings or through the relevant macOS system settings.

6. Local Notifications

59sek may request permission to display a local notification when an export finishes while the application is not frontmost.

Notification permission is not required for the core video-splitting function. The notification is created and delivered locally through macOS. 59sek does not use a remote push-notification service and does not send video information to us for this purpose.

You can manage notification permission in macOS System Settings.

7. No Account, Tracking, Analytics, or Advertising

59sek does not require you to create a user account.

Through the application, we do not collect registration information, passwords, user profiles, usage histories, cloud-stored videos, or exported clips.

59sek does not contain:

• advertising;
• third-party advertising trackers;
• behavioural or cross-app tracking;
• user profiling;
• custom analytics services;
• crash-reporting SDKs operated by us;
• marketing SDKs; or
• third-party software development kits.

We do not use your videos, audio, thumbnails, metadata, or exported clips for advertising, analytics, artificial-intelligence training, or profiling.

8. Distribution Through Apple

59sek is distributed through Apple's Mac App Store.

Apple may independently process information relating to your App Store account, purchase, download, device, payment, diagnostics, or use of the App Store. This processing is controlled by Apple and is governed by Apple's own privacy policies and contractual terms.

We generally do not receive your payment-card or other payment information from Apple. Apple may provide developers with sales, download, performance, or diagnostic information. Where such information is aggregated or does not identify an individual user, it is not personal data in relation to us.

Depending on your macOS and App Store privacy settings, Apple may collect and process crash or diagnostic information. You can manage the sharing of analytics and diagnostics in your Apple device settings.

9. External Links

59sek may contain a link to the provider's website. If you choose to open that link, your default browser connects to the website. The website's own privacy policy applies to that visit.

59sek itself does not send the selected video, generated thumbnail, exported clips, filenames, or editing activity when you open an external link.

10. Contact and Support Requests

When you contact us by email, we process the information contained in your message, including your email address and any information or attachments you choose to provide, to respond to your request.

Depending on the nature of your request, the legal basis is:

• Article 6(1)(b) GDPR, where the communication is necessary to perform a contract or take steps before entering into a contract; or
• Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, based on our legitimate interest in answering questions, providing support, preventing misuse, and handling feedback.

We retain support correspondence only for as long as necessary to handle the request and comply with applicable legal obligations. Email communication may involve processing by the email and hosting providers used to deliver and store messages.

Please do not send confidential videos unless they are strictly necessary for your support request. If you voluntarily attach a video, image, screenshot, or diagnostic file, it is processed as part of the support communication rather than by 59sek's offline processing workflow.

11. Legal Obligations and Claims

We may process limited personal data where necessary to:

• comply with legal obligations;
• establish, exercise, or defend legal claims;
• respond to lawful requests from authorities; or
• document business transactions and support cases.

The applicable legal bases may include Article 6(1)(c) and Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.

12. Recipients and International Transfers

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data. We do not share videos processed locally in 59sek because we do not receive them.

Personal data submitted through support communications may be processed by service providers that assist us with email, hosting, or technical infrastructure. Such providers may process data only to the extent necessary to provide their services and subject to applicable data-protection requirements.

The application itself does not transfer your videos or clips internationally. Apple and providers used for email or website hosting may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where required, such transfers are subject to an adequacy decision or other appropriate safeguards under applicable data-protection law. Please refer to the privacy information of the respective provider for further details.

13. Retention

Because 59sek does not transmit your source videos, thumbnails, metadata, or exported clips to us, we do not set a server-side retention period for this content.

Local preferences and folder bookmarks remain on your Mac until you change them, remove them through the application, uninstall the application, or delete the associated application data. Exported files remain under your control at the selected destination.

Personal data received through support emails is deleted when it is no longer required for the relevant purpose, unless statutory retention obligations or the establishment, exercise, or defence of legal claims require longer storage.

14. Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you may have the right to:

• request access to your personal data;
• request correction of inaccurate data;
• request deletion of your personal data;
• request restriction of processing;
• object to processing based on legitimate interests;
• receive data you provided in a portable format where applicable; and
• withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.

Because we do not receive the videos or clips processed within 59sek, we cannot access, retrieve, correct, or delete that locally stored content for you.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data-protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EU Member State of your habitual residence, place of work, or the place of the alleged infringement.

15. Device Security and Backups

59sek is designed to minimise privacy risks by processing videos locally. You remain responsible for protecting access to your Mac, source videos, thumbnails, exported clips, backups, and connected storage locations.

We recommend using appropriate device security, disk encryption, access controls, and secure backups, particularly when processing confidential, personal, or commercially sensitive videos.

16. Children

59sek is not specifically directed at children. The application does not knowingly collect personal data directly from children through an account or online service.

Parents and legal guardians are responsible for supervising use by minors and ensuring that videos are processed lawfully.

17. Lawful Use of Videos

You are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary rights, permissions, and legal basis to access, process, split, store, and distribute a video.

59sek does not determine whether people depicted or heard in a video have consented to the video being recorded, processed, or distributed.

18. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy if the application, its technical operation, our service providers, or applicable legal requirements change.

The current version will be made available through the application, the App Store listing, or the associated website. The date at the top indicates the latest revision.
