1. Privacy at a Glance
MenuRopeBall is designed to run locally on your Mac.
The application displays an interactive physics ball on your desktop and processes the ball's position, movement, rotation, rope state, and mouse interactions locally to provide its core functionality.
This information is not uploaded to us, transmitted to our servers, sold, used for advertising, or used to build a user profile.
We do not operate a backend server for MenuRopeBall and do not have access to your desktop activity or your interactions with the ball.
2. Local Processing for Ball Physics
To provide its core functionality, MenuRopeBall temporarily processes technical state on your Mac, including:
- the ball's position, velocity, rotation, and angular velocity;
- mouse interactions used to drag, throw, or release the ball;
- the current rope position, length, mode, and attachment state;
- screen dimensions and display geometry;
- transitions between connected displays; and
- whether the ball is visible, tethered, being dragged, or moving freely.
This processing takes place locally and is necessary to display and animate the ball.
The temporary physics state is not transmitted to the developer or to any external server and is not used to monitor other applications, files, windows, or user content.
3. No Keyboard, Screen, or File Monitoring
MenuRopeBall does not record keyboard input, capture screenshots, record your screen, read document contents, or inspect the content of other applications.
The application does not require Accessibility, Input Monitoring, Screen Recording, microphone, camera, contacts, location, or photo-library access for its core functionality.
MenuRopeBall displays a visual overlay on the desktop and responds to mouse interactions with the ball. It does not use those interactions for analytics or tracking.
4. Application Settings
MenuRopeBall stores preferences locally on your Mac, which may include:
- the selected ball style;
- ball size;
- bounciness;
- rope length;
- soft or stiff rope mode;
- whether the rope is attached;
- rope color; and
- whether MenuRopeBall should start when you log in.
These preferences are stored locally to preserve your configuration between sessions. They are not transmitted to us.
You can generally remove local application settings by deleting the application's local data or uninstalling MenuRopeBall.
5. Start at Login
If you enable the “Start at Login” option, macOS registers MenuRopeBall as a login item on your Mac.
This setting is managed locally through macOS. You can disable it within MenuRopeBall or through the login-item settings provided by macOS.
Enabling this feature does not create an online account and does not transmit your macOS login information to us.
6. No User Accounts
MenuRopeBall does not require you to create a user account.
We do not collect through the application:
- names or usernames;
- passwords or authentication credentials;
- contact lists;
- document or file contents;
- browsing activity;
- precise location data; or
- cloud-stored preferences.
7. Analytics, Tracking, and Advertising
MenuRopeBall does not contain:
- advertising;
- third-party advertising trackers;
- behavioural or cross-app tracking;
- user profiling;
- custom analytics services;
- marketing SDKs; or
- telemetry relating to your interactions with the ball.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data.
8. Apple and the Mac App Store
MenuRopeBall is distributed through Apple's Mac App Store.
Apple may independently process information relating to:
- your App Store account;
- your purchase and payment;
- application downloads and updates;
- your device;
- App Store usage;
- crash reports; and
- diagnostic information.
Apple processes this information independently under Apple's own privacy policies and contractual terms.
We generally do not receive your full payment details from Apple. Apple may provide developers with aggregated sales, download, performance, or diagnostic information. Depending on your macOS privacy settings, Apple may also make certain crash or diagnostic reports available to developers.
9. Contact by Email
When you contact us by email, we process the information contained in your message, including your email address, in order to respond to your request.
Depending on the nature of your request, the legal basis for this processing is:
- Article 6(1)(b) GDPR, where the communication is necessary to perform a contract or take steps relating to a contract; or
- Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, based on our legitimate interest in answering questions, providing technical support, and handling feedback.
Support correspondence is retained only for as long as necessary to handle the request and comply with applicable legal obligations.
Email communication may involve processing by the email and hosting providers used to deliver and store messages. Please do not include passwords, authentication codes, or other unnecessary sensitive information in support emails.
10. Legal and Administrative Obligations
We may process limited personal data where necessary to:
- comply with legal obligations;
- document purchases or support cases;
- establish, exercise, or defend legal claims;
- prevent fraud or misuse; or
- respond to lawful requests from public authorities.
The applicable legal bases may include Article 6(1)(c) and Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.
11. Data Retention
Because MenuRopeBall does not transmit its temporary physics state or locally stored preferences to us, we do not store or retain this information on our systems.
Locally stored application preferences remain on your Mac until you change them, remove the application's local data, or uninstall MenuRopeBall.
Personal data received through support communications is deleted when it is no longer necessary for the relevant purpose, unless statutory retention obligations require longer storage.
12. Data Sharing
We do not receive or share the physics state, mouse interactions, display geometry, or preferences processed locally by MenuRopeBall.
Personal data submitted through email communications may be processed by service providers that assist us with email, hosting, or technical infrastructure. These providers may process personal data only to the extent necessary to provide their services and subject to applicable data-protection requirements.
We may disclose information where required by law or necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
13. International Data Transfers
MenuRopeBall itself does not transmit your physics state, interactions, or settings internationally.
Apple and providers used for email or technical services may process personal data outside the European Economic Area. Where required by applicable law, such transfers are subject to appropriate safeguards.
Further information is available in the privacy policies of the respective providers.
14. Your Rights
Under the GDPR, you may have the right to:
- request access to your personal data;
- request correction of inaccurate personal data;
- request deletion of your personal data;
- request restriction of processing;
- object to processing based on legitimate interests;
- receive personal data you provided in a portable format where applicable; and
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
Because MenuRopeBall does not transmit or store its temporary physics state or local preferences on our systems, we cannot access, retrieve, correct, or delete this locally processed information for you.
To exercise your rights concerning personal data held by us, contact:
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data-protection supervisory authority.
15. Security
MenuRopeBall is designed to minimise privacy risks by processing its core functionality locally and avoiding unnecessary data collection.
You remain responsible for protecting access to your Mac, installing operating-system and application updates, and managing your local macOS settings.
No technical system can guarantee absolute security.
16. Children
MenuRopeBall is not specifically directed at children and does not provide user accounts or an online service through which children knowingly submit personal data to us.
Because the application does not collect personal data through its core functionality, it does not knowingly collect personal data from children through the application.
17. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy if:
- MenuRopeBall's features change;
- its technical operation changes;
- new third-party services are introduced; or
- applicable legal requirements change.
The current version will be made available through the application, its App Store listing, or an associated website.
